By The Numbers

Lots of numbers have been on my mind.

2010 will be over in 32 days.
In 2011, I get my 11/11/11 day.  What to do, what to do…
I have 13.1 mile trail race in 5 days.
I have not run over 8 miles in over 2 weeks.  Oops.
I have put about 4-ish gallons of gas in my car in the past 2 days.  Today I paid mostly in quarters from the 80’s and 90’s and 2 wiggly $1 bills.
(Also: Damn you “Check Engine” light.  Stop with the taunting.)
Last year I ran this same race in 2:29:46.  I am worried I won’t beat it.  I am trying to believe I don’t care.
I still have 3 drafts of posts I need to edit.
Average night and early morning temperature has been below 40.  See above re: lack of training runs.
Putting the oven on 350 for about 20 minutes helps to warm up the kitchen.
Pounds of green chile cornbread stuffing consumed over Thanksgiving weekend: 1,749.
Minutes procrastinating in face of hateful project is greater than pounds consumed of green chile cornbread stuffing.
I have doubled 2 recipes in the last 5 days.
I actually transferred $1 from checking to savings today.  And then had to laugh.
I did 3 sets of 12 regular push-ups while hiking a mile up a 10% grade.  So there is that.
I lost count how many thank you notes I mailed within the last 7 days.

It all makes sense to me.

  1. Ha!! Great post. I have $5 in my savings account, and it has been the same for as long as I can remember. It is a balance we have to keep in there. :)

Good Luck on your race, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 1 day early!! :)

  2. I did not know you had a 13.1 mile race ahead. Bad friend. Good luck!
I love that you transferred $1. It is like when I pay off my overdraft only to not leave enough money in my account for transactions and the overdraft kicks in again the next day. It is simply the satisfaction of doing it.
    Ooooh Happy Birthday tomorrow!

    1. thanks Leigh, and no worries. have not really been writing about it as originally planned. re: transfer… oy. had to put $1 into saving since the $3 fee will get taken out today. c’mon payday, get here now. and on b-day too, yay!
