Hooray for HOLLYWOOD!!! It’s the Academy Awards this Sunday night, broadcast live on ABC, starting with their red carpet show at 4PM here in California, but if you’re like me, you’ll be watching E! from sun-up on Sunday. The big stars start arriving on the carpet at about 2:45PM (again, all times Pacific) and so they flow until the show starts at 5PM. I have been watching the Oscars every single year as long as I can remember, glued to the TV and now to my Twitter feed, but basically, just loving every overwrought minute of it. The Oscars website is great for all things nominee related. You can cast your own ballots, read up on each movie and the talented people who are nominated, and basically go uber-multimedia there. Oh! And make sure to check out the Shorts!
(Speaking of Twitter, of which I am a late adopter, but truly enjoying so much, check out that my hometown of Santa Fe, NM is the 4th happiest city in America by tweet!)
Back to the movies!
For those who want some inside industry gossip, er I mean, anonymously sourced news bits, head over to Deadline Hollywood. Beware, SPOILERS.
On to the gowns!
NY Times has this searchable red carpet database of all the looks over the past several decades. It can be filtered by wearer, designer, color, gown type… It is TOTALLY fun and cool. Get clicking.
A designer whom I adore is British genuis and Dame, Vivienne Westwood. In looking at some energy and climate news this week for work, I saw that she is also a tireless activist for our environment and read her blog. Remember, she is the woman who brought us punk fashion. In 1971. Love her.
Although I want Zero Dark Thirty and Jessica Chastain to win everything this year, they won’t. The other CIA movie, Argo, is going to win Best Picture. It is a fantastic movie, and will be enjoyed for years to come. Here is the declassified CIA report on which the script is based. Absolutely INCREDIBLE.
And finally, Beyoncé in her own words.
